Actress MOIRA LISTER has died. She was 84. The South African star was best known for her love of theatre and became one of the most famous leading ladies to have graced the stages of London's West End. But she was also noted for her work on the big screen, in movies like 1953's The Cruel Sea and 1955's The Deep Blue Sea. Lister is survived by her two daughters from her 40-year marriage to French cavalry officer and champagne producer, Vicomte d'Orthez, who died in 1989.
The '12 Years A Slave' director will receive the accolade at the London Film Festival in October.
Critics from all over the world were asked to name the best movie of the past 16 years.
