Actor Bruce Hyde Has Died, Aged 74.
Hyde passed away at Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Cloud, Minnesota on Tuesday (13Oct15) following a long battle with throat cancer.
The actor was first diagnosed with the disease in 2010, and retired from his teaching job last year (14) after the cancer returned.
Hyde is best remembered for his role in 1960s TV series Star Trek, playing Kevin Riley in a memorable episode which featured his character singing Irish ballad I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen in a drunken stupor.
He also enjoyed parts in TV shows Dr. Kildare, That Girl and The Beverly Hillbillies, and performed in the musical Hair and The Canterbury Tales on stage.
Hyde become a professor at St. Cloud State University in 1990 and taught in the Department of Communication Studies until his retirement last year (14).
