Actor VTEZSLAV JANDAK has been appointed the new culture minister in the Czech Republic.
Jandak was a famous film star during the 1970s and appeared in more than 30 films until the collapse of Eastern Bloc.
He then starred in the first privately produced Czech film, TANKOVY PRAPOR, in 1991.
He replaces playwright and journalist PAVEL DOSTAL who died from cancer in July (05). He had held the prestigious position since 1998.
