Get your winter woolies ready, the ski season is upon us.
Skiing and snowboarding does provide some excellent, peaceful moments where one can feel completely at peace, and connected with nature. Whether it's gently skiing down quiet tree lined blue runs, or enjoying a run to yourself at the very top of the mountain - the peace and quiet can make you feel completely at one with nature.
There are times however, such as carving the living daylights out of a Piste, or table top dancing in an après ski bar that music feels like an essential part of your ski holiday. Below, we run through some of our personal favourite songs to hear on a ski trip, whether they are being blasted out at après ski, or in your headphones on an adrenaline fuelled ski run.
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Snow
Every playlist needs some Red Hot Chilli Peppers and a skiing playlist is absolutely no different. Taken from the 2006 album Stadium Arcadium. Known for its excellent guitar rifs and catchy 'Hey Ohh' it's a popular song in headphones up the slopes, and in après ski bars down the slopes.
Hey Jude - The Beatles
The success of Après Ski Bars depends on their singalong atmosphere, and blasting out tunes which are universally known and loved. To that end, Hey Jude has to make it into our list simply for its ability to get multiple nationalities screaming out its lyrics - all of whom are terribly out of tune.
Wonderwall - Oasis
This famous tune is a must play for most Après Ski Bands looking to get their crowd going. Again, its lyrics are almost universally known across Europe and it's a tune which instantly packs out après ski dancefloors.
Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc.
Skiing & Snowboarding is one of the most feel good songs out there, so it's only right that this song makes it into our list. It's perfect when played in headphones, or on a speaker chilling out up the mountain with friends.
AC/DC - Thunderstruck
This is the ultimate tune for some high adrenaline skiing, I personally love listening to this song just before hitting a particularly difficult section of off Piste. I would say it is almost the remedy for tired skiing legs.
Seven Nation Army - White Stripes
This is one of the most badass songs in existence. It's a spine tingling tune, which sounds even better blasting out before a really difficult run. It's the ultimate in adrenaline fuelling tunes, and just listening to it now makes me want to hit the slopes.
Scooter - J'adore Hardcore
No compilation of skiing tunes would be complete without a shout out to Scooter. This German hard-core techno group has made songs which make it into après ski bars across Europe, and in the headphones of both skiers and snowboarders.
We hope you have enjoyed reading and listening to some of the above list. We believe that these tunes are perfect for all aspects of your ski holiday - whether it's the drive over the to the Alps, chilling out listening to songs in your apartment, blasting out in your headphones up the mountain as well as dancing and singing in après ski bars.
