Rapper 50 Cent has been sentenced to probation and 30 days of community service after striking a plea deal to avoid jail time in his domestic violence case.
The In Da Club hitmaker, real name Curtis Jackson, was hit with one count of misdemeanour domestic violence and four of misdemeanour vandalism following a heated dispute with his ex, model Daphne Joy, in June (13), when he is accused of kicking her and causing $7,100 (£4,730) in property damage.
He initially faced up to five years behind bars after pleading not guilty to the allegations, but managed to work out a deal with prosecutors to keep him out of jail and instead pleaded no contest to one count of misdemeanour vandalism on Monday (28Oct13).
The hip-hop star was ordered to serve three years probation and perform community service, while he must also attend counselling sessions and pay $7,100 in restitution to Joy.
In exchange, California authorities agreed to drop the domestic violence charge, according to Tmz.com.
A previous restraining order banning 50 Cent from contacting Joy, who is rumoured to have had a child by the rapper, will remain in place.
