Original New Seekers vocalist EVE GRAHAM is infuriated with her former bandmates for not paying her any royalties for 30 years - and for replacing her with a sound-a-like in recent performances.
Eve sang with the band in their most successful period, from 1969 to 1978, and provided the vocals for their phenomenal hit I'D LIKE TO TEACH THE WORLD TO SING - made legendary by a COCA COLA TV advertisment.
However, original members MARTY KRISTIAN and PAUL MARTIN LAYTON - who are still going strong with the group, have recruited a singer who sounds just like Eve - meaning Graham, who is still married to ex-New Seeker KEVIN 'DANNY' FINN, receives no royalties.
Angry Eve fumes, "They had re-recorded a lot of the stuff with a sound-a-like. Fans would get in touch to say they'd bought a new CD but were disappointed to find it wasn't my voice.
"Records and CDs have pictures they shouldn't have used of the old line-up."08/08/2003 14:05
