Veteran rocker Neil Young is urging American citizens to register their right to vote as soon as possible - to ensure a fair mid-term election in November (06). The Canadian hitmaker, who has lived in the US for over 40 years, was horrified by the recount fiasco surrounding the 2000 election, which saw GEORGE W BUSH start his first term as president, and is calling on Americans to use their voter power and strike a blow to the Republican government. Young is a staunch critic of Bush; his new album LIVING WITH WAR contains a bitter attack on the politician. He says, "We need a new leader. One we feel has been fairly elected and represents the wishes of the people instead of dividing the people. "Register now. Vote in November. Look for a real leader." Mid-term elections decide new members of Congress, but not the country's president.
