For the first time in 34 years, NBC will air the annual Primetime Emmy Awards live coast-to-coast on August 29, the network confirmed on Thursday. Reminiscent of the early days of live network television, the show will originate on the West Coast at the early hour of 5 00 p.m. so that it can reach the nation's largest population on the East Coast at 8 00 p.m. Broadcasting & Cable , which had been the first to report on the network's plans to air the ceremony live, said that it has not made a decision whether to air a taped rebroadcast later in the evening in the West as it did with the Golden Globes in January.
