The 20-year-old singer has successfully recovered from emergency throat surgery on a haemorrhaging nodule and joined bandmates Max George, Jay McGuinness, Tom Parker and Siva Kaneswaran at the Capital FM Summertime Ball in London.
Following the group's performance at Wembley Stadium - which saw them sing hits 'I Found You', 'Glad You Came' and 'All Time Low' - Nathan told BANG Showbiz: ''I was pretty nervous about returning but it's a dream to be back. It feels incredible, I feel very lucky that I have this opportunity to keep performing.
''It was a very special moment to make my comeback at Wembley.''
Tom added: ''It took a while to get used to. It was tough to adapt to because we've been singing for four years.''
Max added: ''It's pretty awesome to be back together again, we've missed him. It's been two months now as a four and we have to do a lot less now he's back. It's quite heavy on the vocals.''
While Nathan is delighted to be back with the group, he is going to miss watching his favourite daytime TV shows.
He said: ''I'm going to miss my days of watching 'The Jeremy Kyle Show', 'This Morning' and playing on my PlayStation.''
As well as The Wanted, Taylor Swift wowed the 80,000-strong crowd with a selection of hits, and brought Ed Sheeran on stage to perform their new single 'Everything Has Changed'.
The Saturdays - minus Rochelle Humes, who was at home looking after her and Marvin Humes' six-week-old daughter Alaia-Mai - also performed at the event, hosted by Justin Timberlake.
Other performers included Ellie Goulding, will.i.am, Psy, Union J and Olly Murs, before Robbie Williams closed the event in spectacular style with several hits including 'Let Me Entertain You', 'Rock DJ', 'Candy' and 'Angels'.
