Nate Berkus, the popular American interior designer and television personality, is recovering at home after undergoing surgery for appendicitis, reports the Associated Press. Sony Pictures Television have confirmed that the 39-year-old is 'resting comfortably' after being hospitalised on Tuesday (30th November 2010).
Berkus is expected to be back at work taping his New York based 'Nate Berkus Show' at some point next week. The designer, a protege of Oprah Winfrey, launched his syndicated weekday show back in September 2010. Earlier this week, the designer's rep told People Magazine, "He was on the 'Today' show this morning and he wasn't feeling well. He powered through and then went straight to the hospital after that and they learned he had appendicitis", before adding, "He was in a lot of pain. I don't think people realized how ill he was".
The 39-year-old, who runs interior design firm 'Nate Berkus Associates', began his television career as a regular guest on 'The OPRAH WINFREY show', offering design advice to viewers. His rep added that Berkus' condition is good and that doctors "expect a quick recovery".
