Pop sensation Natasha Bedingfield has been forced to cancel a British fund-raising concert for ailing soccer club CAMBRIDGE UNITED FC - because it clashes with July's (05) star-studded LIVE 8 concert.
The IF YOU'RE NOT THE ONE star will perform on 1 July (05) at the charity concert, but the second date at Cambridge's Abbey Stadium has been scrapped, because campaigning rockers including SIR Bob Geldof have planned five international Live 8 concerts on the same day.
But Bedingfield is happy to allow the historic concert to take precedence over her small gig, because Live 8 aims to persuade leaders of the eight largest industrial nations to cancel Third World debt, double the aid budget and rewrite global trade laws so developing countries can protect their economies.
A spokesman for the event explains, "Natasha was due to the play at the Abbey Stadium on July 1 as part of the two day Abbey Aid event.
"Around 7,000 people were expected to attend on both days.
"But the second day of live music on July 2 would have clashed with the Live 8 concerts planned for London, Paris, Berlin, Rome and Philadelphia."06/06/2005 17:40
