Newly-released findings about the death of Natalie Wood suggest the late actress may have been a victim of abuse.
The actress' 1981 death was ruled accidental and new information that prompted the re-opening of the case in 2011 proved inconclusive.
Now, a new Los Angeles County Coroner's report, released on Monday (14Jan13), concludes that bruising on the actress' body is consistent with injuries from an assault before she fell overboard from a boat off the coast of California and drowned.
Sources tell the Los Angeles Times that bruises on the actress' wrists and other areas and are among findings that investigators originally overlooked three decades ago.
Last summer (Aug12), Los Angeles County coroner's officials amended Wood's death certificate to reflect unanswered questions about her death.
Her widower, actor Robert Wagner, maintains Wood fell into the icy waters near Catalina Island from the couple's yacht.
