Natalie Portman, the American actress who scooped the Oscar for 'Best Actress' in February, has hinted that she may quit acting for the sake of her children. Natalie Portman is currently expecting her first child with choreographer fiance Benjamin Millepied.
Speaking to the Sun's Buzz Magazine, Portman discussed her desire to emulate Audrey Hepburn, who famously walked away from Hollywood to spend more time with her family. The 29-year-old actress said, "Audrey made some good choices in life... More and more I realise how unimportant it is to be in the history books or anything like that. Putting time and energy into your children, that's valuable". Portman says she is also taking influence from Hepburn's relaxed attitude on the film set, saying, "If someone is being nasty on set, I lose my focus... Being kind and calm, that's the discipline". Before meeting Millepied whilst filming the Darren Aronofsky movie 'Black Swan', Portman was previously in a relationship with the American folk singer Devendra Banhart.
Natalie Portman is currently starring in Kenneth Branagh's fantasy-adventure movie 'Thor', which topped the U.S. box office at the weekend. She also stars in and produced the indie-drama film 'Hesher', with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Rainn Wilson. The movie will be released in the United States on Friday (13th May 2011).
