Actress/singer Natalie Bassingthwaighte has turned down an offer to return to her role in Australian soap opera Neighbours.
Bassingthwaighte starred as Izzy Hoyland in the serial drama from 2003 to 2006, and producers asked her to reprise the role as part of the series' 30th anniversary celebrations next year (15) but she had to turn them down due to scheduling conflicts.
She tells DailyTelegraph.com.au, "My good friends are still on the show, I did want to go back to see them and for nostalgic reasons, but the timing wasn't right. It would have been fun... I've done the documentary though. Neighbours was a massive part of my life. I'd done musical theatre before the show but that is what made me known across the country, getting yelled at and abused for Izzy's behaviour!"
A host of former Neighbours stars will return to the show for guest appearances in 2015 as part of the anniversary, including Delta Goodrem and Stephanie MCIntosh. Pop stars Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan have yet to confirm rumours they will reprise their characters.
