The hip-hop star released a video on Thursday (31Mar16), the day before April Fools' Day, revealing the collaboration with his clothing company HSTRY.

In the clip, he says, "Ghostbusters is every fun thing you can think of when it comes to the imagination when you think of supernatural or paranormal activity. What kid doesn't get inspired or intrigued by ghost stories?"

Nas goes on to discuss his own history with the movie, recalling how excited he was to see his favourite comedians Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray in the original 1984 film.

"I went to Ghostbusters with my mom and brother. We were just happy to go get out to the movie theatre. It just took us on a ride. The movie was great, going to see a movie like this, I was hyped (excited)."

In the video, he also shows off some of the items from the supernatural-themed collection, including a black t-shirt with the number "84" on the back in what looks like the green slime seen in the Ghostbusters franchise.

Nas launched HSTRY in 2014, the same year he celebrated the 20th anniversary of his iconic debut album, Illmatic. As a result, the brand's first collection was inspired by the 1980s and '90s, and served as a reflection of his "personal journey and motivation with vibrant, original graphics and colour-blocking extolling an era that birthed legends and shaped decades to come."

His new collection comes months before a remake of the beloved Ghostbusters hits cinemas in July (16). The new instalment features an all-female cast starring Leslie Jones, Kate MCKinnon, Melissa McCarthy, and Kristen Wiig, with cameos by Aykroyd and Murray.
