British pop star Myleene Klass choked back tears during an appearance on a British Tv show on Monday (10Feb14) as she appealed for help for the victims of a typhoon in the Philippines.
The south east Asian nation was devastated by Typhoon Haiyan in November (13) and the classical pianist, who is Filipino in origin, journeyed to the country to help locals attempt to rebuild their community.
Klass and her mother visited a family in Tacloban, one of the worst hit areas, and were moved by the loss of family members and the local residents' attempts to rebuild their lives.
Former Hear'Say star Klass tells U.K. morning show Daybreak, "The children are traumatised, as you saw there we went to the grave of that family who had buried their mum and their eight-month-old sister and their lives are never going to be the same again... I thought of my own children the entire time."
Klass praised the help provided by outside nations but she is adamant there are still millions of needy families in the Philippines, adding, "There are still 10 million people who still desperately need help. They need money, they need funds and they need it urgently."
More than 6,000 victims perished when Typhoon Haiyan hit.
