The musician, who played rhythm guitar and sang backing vocals in the I’m Not Okay (I Promise) band from 2001 until their split in 2013, was scheduled to play at The Metro Theatre in the city on Thursday night (13Oct16) with his solo project Frank Iero and the Patience. However, the group was forced to cancel the performance after he and members of his crew were allegedly rammed by a van while unloading equipment.

Australian outlet Channel 9 reports one man has been airlifted to St Vincent’s Hospital while another was rushed there via ambulance. While Frank is said to be injured, he has been able to give a statement to police. Park Street, the scene of the crime, has been closed until further notice.

An official statement telling fans the show was cancelled “due to unforeseen circumstances” has been released, offering ticket holders a refund. Frank’s loyal devotees have taken to social media to share their concern and to wish the rock star well as he recovers.

“@FrankIero hoping you and the crew are okay after the accident in Sydney! it's a shame you had to cancel the show,” one fan wrote on Twitter, while another added, "Don't even care if Sydney's show was cancelled. I just hope you recover soon, @FrankIero + crew He does not deserve this at all."
