The director of My Big Fat Greek Wedding has taken on the job to helm another heavy production - Fat Albert.

Film-maker Joel Zwick will direct the script by Bill Cosby and CHARLES KIPPS, which is based on the comedian's stand-up comedy monologues - drawn from his own childhood - about adolescents growing up in inner-city Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Production on the movie was put on hold last year (02) after actor FOREST WHITAKER ditched his directing duties on the flick, citing "creative differences".

The one-time Saturday morning children's show, dubbed FAT ALBERT AND THE COSBY KIDS and later THE NEW FAT ALBERT SHOW, ran on American screens from 1972 to 1984.
