British pop star Mutya Buena is organising a fundraising event to pull in donations for children left orphaned in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

The former Sugababes star, whose father is Filipino, has been in contact with her relatives in the devastated southeast Asian nation and reveals they have lost everything.

Buena tells Britain's Metro newspaper, "Family members haven't been found. Kids are alone in the streets. A lot of people in our family were affected. I was really upset. Me, my sister and my mum were watching Tv every day crying our eyeballs out."

The 28 year old has now decided to help out by hosting a special event in London on Friday (22Nov13) to raise cash for the relief effort.

She adds, "It's going to be a fun night to lighten up the mood with special guests."

The singer also reveals she will fly from Britain to the Philippines next year (14) to help out at ground level: "I am going in January to do some work with the kids and see what I can do. It's all good doing things over here but going over there will be a bigger thing for me."
