Madonna Celebrates Her Birthday with 8th & Final Wembley Arena Date

Having opened her Confessions World Tour last night to ecstatic reviews at the first of four sold-out performances in Los Angeles last night, it was announced today that Madonna will celebrate her birthday with thousands of fans in London this year as – due to overwhelming public demand - the 8th and final Wembley Arena date is confirmed as August 16th – the material girl's birthday.

The original seven London dates sold out in a record 24-hours and repeat the success of her two previous world tours – the highly acclaimed 2001 Drowned World tour, which included eight sold out nights at Earls Court, and 2004's Re-Invention tour, which featured three shows at Earl's Court and four at Wembley Arena.

The new single 'Get Together' is released on Warner Records, July 24th.

It is the third single to be released from the million-selling 'Confessions On A Dancefloor', which debuted at Number 1 in 29 countries, and follows the Number 1 smash-hits 'Hung Up' and 'Sorry' - the latter of which made history, giving Madonna her 12th UK Number 1; more than any other female artist ever.

On June 19th Madonna released the special edition live CD/DVD 'I'm Going To Tell You A Secret'. Directed by Jonas Akerlund, the behind-the-scenes documentary of 2004's Reinvention tour includes previously unreleased footage, while the CD includes 14 live tracks from 2004's 'Reinvention' world tour.

The announcement of these dates coincides with the release of Pink's fourth album, 'I'm Not Dead'. Since starting life as underground producers and party promoters in 1995, putting out their first tracks on shrink wrapped vinyl and throwing hush-hush raves in abandoned South London pizza joints, Simon Ratcliffe and Felix Buxton, collectively known as Basement Jaxx, have taken the sound of London, SW9 to the world.

With album sales of more than 2.5 million under their belt, including the recent double platinum UK No.1 collection "The Singles", Basement Jaxx have also developed into a legendary live act in which they eschew the usual head bobbing DJ style show that dance music is known for in favour of an all out sensory assault featuring drums, percussion, guitar and an army of singers.

"We always wanted to put on a proper show and not just perform a glorified DJ set" says Felix "and I think we've managed that - but we'll be looking to take it up a notch this year"

2005 saw them perform at the world famous Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, to 30,000 people in Hyde Park and close the main stage at the ultimate festival, Glastonbury.

Earlier the same year saw them collect their first Grammy for "Best Electronic Album" to add to the two BRIT's (Best Dance Act) and numerous other awards already on the shelf.

A fourth album, currently untitled and under construction in London, is due for release later this year.
