The School of Sound Recording is situated in the heart of Manchester and has strong connections with the city's music scene. It was established in 1984 to provide specialist training for the audio/music industry.

The Courses on offer are: Audio Engineering Techniques & Technology- an 18-month part time courses aimed primarily at people looking for career in the music/audio industry such as Record Producer, composer or performing artist DJ Technique and Culture- a 24 week part time courses covers all DJ skills, including production of original tunes, remixes and organisation/promotion of your own club events.

Computer Music - for people who want to explore the full music potential of their home computer. In addition to these courses, SSR also runs courses in music journalism, Internet commerce and musical instrument tuition. Whatever your ability, ambition, budget or previous experience there will be a suitable programme available. All courses offer a mix of theory and unprecedented levels of hands-on experience. More importantly, they are recognised by music industry employers.
