Bland Band Boogie

Foundation Records 24/11/03

Raw garage rock has been dragged through a puddle and given an even dirtier coating, thanks to Hellacopters mixed with John Spencer sounding East London Paddy Austin fronted quintet. This follow up single to limited edition debut ‘Little Beats’ is punctuated with crude and provocative sounds coupled with handclapping, proving a typical euro trash undertone with more “oohhh- aaahhhs” in it than an entertaining football game.

SchwaB - Bland Band Boogie - Foundation Records 24/11/03 - Single Review

‘Bland Band Boogie’ is a simple attack on ‘talentless’ modern bands:

“Every time I go out I leave my taste buds behind”.

With a self contraction that even the Manic Street Preachers would have been proud of, they perform their protest in a bandWagon jumper garage rock, stomping manner that has been heard as often as Tony Blair has sidestepped a dodgy issue. However, it is still strangely compelling and the funky, howling B-side DJ’s in a row, demonstrates SchwaB’s willingness to cross musical boundaries without the hint of a visa.
