Soaring music from the base of Manchester, or some would say the heart of this thriving music metropolis of the UK, asNarcissus definitely possesses a beat to be proud of. ‘The Window’ slowly opens out from afoundation of slow and funky beats associated with R N B and to a lesser extent the ambient genre. The sound then expands and broadens with the soaring vocals of Ben Guys, who grabs hold of a varied range of influences spanning New Order, A Man Called Adam, Doves, Massive Attack and Puressencethen heharmonizes them. A bouncing almost deep/tech house style remix featuring soulful and heavenly backing vocals is provided by Dark Matter.

The funky and feisty ‘Burning Candles’ jolts along at the outset before settling into cruising and jive friendly pace. Guys’ vocals take on a distorted and echoing feel to drive home the point that whatever you do is;

“Never gonna be enough”
