On friday 31 march bbc three launches an exciting new one-off live music special fronted by radio 1 djs zane lowe, annie mac and nihal. The show will come live from east london, and will feature a mixture of big international stars, buzz bands of the moment and the uk's most hotly touted unsigned artists.
Guerilla gig live is the music show we've all been waiting for, and will showcase great music across all genres. Adding a unique twist to the show will be a 'guerilla gig', where a high profile band will perform a full set at a secret london location, which will only be revealed at the start of the live show. Viewers will have just 45 minutes to reach the gig, with only the first 200 to arrive making it through the door for the intimate affair.
Meanwhile back at the main event recent nme double award winner zane lowe and annie mac will be introducing big name acts, and new talent, including one unsigned band chosen by zane's radio 1 listeners earlier that week. New comic talent russell kane will be roving reporter on the night.
Zane lowe, presenter, says: "obviously, now is an exciting time for new music. Great bands are coming from all angles building strong local scenes and using the extended reach of the internet to find their audience faster. Ultimately, there is very little separating awesome music and its crowd these days, so we're gonna put them both together in an exciting environment and pretty much get out of the way. It's the kind of music show i've been waiting to get stuck into".
This will be the first truly cross-platform live music show – bbc tv, radio, on-line are all onside. The 'guerilla gig' will continue via red button after the bbc three show finishes and much of the show's content will be accessible via the website www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree for a week after the show.
The line-up includes white stripes front man jack white and his band the raconteurs have been confirmed as one of the major acts to play at guerilla gig live in what will be a tv worldwide exclusive. Also playing at guerilla gig live will be uk grime act kano, and jose gonzalez performing a tv worldwide exclusive of 'teardrop'.
