Celebrate 50 Releases!
Two years ago Mark Brown (one half of MYNC Project) left his position as head A&R at Parlophone's dance imprint Credence to set up his own independent label CR2 Records. It was a massive gamble leaving the safety of a major to go it alone. Two years on and we are ecstatic to say that the gamble has paid off, with CR2 now approaching a milestone that is its 50th release. Over the last 2 years the label has released many seminal records from artists like Eric Prydz & Steve Angello, Danny Howells, Fedde le Grand, Steve Mac, The Egg, Lee Cabrera, Bush II Bush, Kurd Maverick, Danny Freakazoid, 100% and many more. Now what better way for the label to celebrate this fantastic milestone than the first release on the label from MYNC Project!
MYNC Project (Mark Brown & Nick Corelli) are without doubt one of the hottest acts in dance music right now, whether it be rocking dancefloors the world over with their awesome dj sets or in the studio making dancefloor bombs. Having already remixed the likes of Inner City & Narcotic Thrust for the likes of Virgin, Gut Records and Yoshitoshi as well as releasing 2 massive singles this year in the form of their collaboration with Danny Rampling `Strobelight' (Positiva), and their vocal smash `Something On Your Mind' (Apollo). Both tracks have been huge getting the much lauded `Essential New Tune' seal of approval from Pete Tong on his radio 1 show, as well as both being Buzz chart and Cool Cuts number one! These guys are on fire at the moment!
Now down to Business, and `R U Sure' is nothing short of monstrous! A huge electro house bomb that has been smashing clubs in their sets for the past few months. From the moment the filthy electro bass comes in you know you're in for a treat. They tease the riff in and out knowing exactly how to work a dancefloor into frenzy. Layers and layers of sounds and synths build the track to boiling point, before the amazing breakdown gets a huge `hands in the air' reaction. This really does rock!
Being the 50th release, CR2 decided to keep all the mixes in house for CR2's burgeoning roster of international talent. First up Swiss based Danny Freakazoid, fresh from the imminent release of his debut album provides an outstandingly groovy mix that shows huge maturity at such a young age reminiscent of Booka Shade or John Tejada at their best, Danny's mix is sick!
Next up Israeli born Ran Shani shows why so many people are touting him as the next big thing. Having won many fans with his recent release `The Sunshine EP' on CR2, he steps up to the plate and delivers a dancefloor smashing peak time belter of a remix. Full of energy, it uses the original hooks to great effect and creates a whole new vibe. Next up new signing for CR2, Jamie McHugh, shows why he has been snapped up with lethal trademark filthy as hell electro house work out. Wobbly sounds and off mind-bending stabs are the order of the day underpinned by a ferocious bassline that cases dancefloor mayhem. Keep an eye out for his forthcoming single on CR2 `A.W.O.L' which likely to be massive!
So there we have it, MYNC Project deliver a package that is more than fit for the occasion. We hope you have enjoyed our first 50 releases. Here's to another 50!
