The I Will Wait stars had signed on to play at the prizegiving at Birmingham's Genting Arena in the hopes of dashing from the awards show to their gig at London's O2 Arena later that night, but they have since had to cancel the promotional appearance.

"We're very sorry to say that we're not going to make it to the BBC Awards on Thursday," the band writes in a statement. "We're out on tour at the moment, and we've realised that we just can't make it work to do two shows in one day.

"It seemed like it would be possible a few weeks ago but the reality is we want to make sure those gigs in London are the very best they can be.

"So sorry to anyone who was looking forward to seeing us on the telly (TV) that night. Hope to see you out on the road some time."

The 2015 BBC Music Awards will still feature performances from One Direction, Ellie Goulding and Hozier, among others, while nominees include Adele, Ed Sheeran, and Florence + The MAChine, who are all up for the Best British Artist category.
