The MTV reality show that propelled Lauren Conrad, Audrina Patridge and Heidi Montag to fame has been scrapped - THE HILLS' upcoming sixth season will be its last.
The programme, which documented the lives of a group of friends as they tried to find success in Los Angeles, debuted in 2006 and became a hit around the world.
Conrad and her pals have since launched various side-careers on the back of The Hills' success, including book, fashion and other TV ventures.
But MTV network bosses have now decided to call time on the real-life drama after the new season airs in April (10).
Creator Adam DiVello tells Entertainment Weekly, "I think we've told the story of struggle and of finding yourself in L.A. A lot of these kids have found themselves and have certainly embarked on different careers and different paths."
The future of The Hills was thrown into doubt when Conrad, the main focus of the first five seasons, quit last year (09), followed by Patridge's announcement in August (09) that she would be leaving after filming on the sixth season wrapped.
