Rocker ALANIS MORISSETTE spent years looking for authentic Japanese decor to fill out her spacious Ottawa apartment - and then found it in a nearby market.

The IRONIC singer, who admits to having "a passion for all things Asian", decided to revamp her Canadian home with Japanese themes and set out to find tiny altars to place around the apartment.

She says, "I had a really hard time finding Buddhist altars in Japan itself (but) Ottawa seems to be teeming with them."

Morissette recently opened up her riverside home to MTV cameras for their CRIBS show. Her "sanctuary" also features Turkish and Moroccan-themed rooms.
