MTV host and BMX star T.J. LAVIN has regained consciousness and has started to speak following his hospitalisation after a serious bike accident last week (14Oct10).
The sportsman, who presents MTV's Real World/Road Rules Challenge, was admitted to the University Medical Center in Las Vegas and placed in a medically-induced coma after crashing while competing in the Dew Tour Championships BMX.
The 33 year old was said to be making slow progress in his recovery on Monday (18Oct10) and his business partner Chas Aday reveals he is now starting to communicate with his worried family and friends.
Aday tells People.com, "He's answering questions. He'll say 'yes' a little bit and he knows where he is, but he's not opening his eyes yet."
But Lavin will soon require surgery to repair his broken wrist.
Aday adds, "We're waiting on the orthopaedic surgeon on when they're going to do that (operate). Then we'll see when he'll be (released from hospital). He may be there another week."
