Rapper Mos Def had to cancel a performance at the inaugural Soulfest tour in Sydney, Australia on Saturday (18Oct14) after missing his flight.

The New York native, aka Yasiin Bey, broke the news to fans via his Facebook.com page, less than three hours before he was expected to perform at Victoria Park.

His message read: "Peace Sydney. Sorry Im (sic) going to miss you today. We had some travel issues."

Festival organisers subsequently confirmed the hip-hop star had "missed his flight" and called on local musician Miracle to perform on the main stage in Mos Def's place.

Mos Def's absence prompted a wave of complaints from attendees, some of whom only learned about the cancellation when it was announced at the venue. Promoters subsequently agreed to offer them discounted tickets to another of their gigs headlined by the rapper in Sydney on Monday night (20Oct14).

It's not the first time Mos Def has disappointed fans Down Under - in 2011, he also axed his scheduled tour of Australia and New Zealand at late notice.
