Monty Python star Michael Palin will head out on the road for a solo tour of the U.K. after the comedy group's highly-anticipated reunion in the summer (14).

Palin will reunite with John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle and Terry Jones for a run of shows at London's O2 Arena in July (14), and the funnyman has now unveiled plans for his own stage shows.

He will base the production on the third volume of his diary, covering the years from 1988 until 1998, which is due for publication later this year (14). Palin will tell anecdotes about his time in the entertainment industry and his work making travel documentaries.

He says, "It will be my first solo tour and I see it as a chance to meet audiences all over the country and talk about the only consistent thread in my working life: the irresistible urge to do something different."

The Travelling To Work tour will kick off in September (14).
