Actress Monica Bellucci is set to star in an Italian version of the Fatal Attraction stage adaptation.

The 1987 classic thriller, starring Michael Douglas and Glenn Close, was turned into a stage production earlier this year (14) when it opened in London, with Natascha MCElhone playing the bunny-boiling stalker and Kristin Davis as the man's betrayed spouse.

Although the play fell foul of critics initially, its producer Patrick Ryecart insists the project is pulling in healthy audiences, and Italian actress Bellucci has reportedly been tapped to star in a version in her native country when it opens in Rome.

It is not clear if Bellucci will play the obsessive jilted lover or the leading man's wronged wife, nor when the Italian production is expected to launch.
