Virgin EMI are proud to announce 'Reflections', the debut EP from New York three-piece MisterWives
The title track, produced and mixed by Eminem collaborator Frequency, is the perfect summer indie-pop anthem, intriguing and quirky before bursting into life with a chorus so catchy it'll fire up your dancing shoes. Think Chvrches meets Ellie Goulding, with a hint of Robyn and a big splash of original queen of NYC pop, Cyndi Lauper.
And that joyous brilliance permeates the whole of the 'Reflections EP', with opener 'Twisted Tongue' being a riot of handclaps and trumpets, 'Kings & Queens' fizzing with electro-pop energy and 'Imagination Infatuation' boasting a disco-inflected guitar riff and ridiculously infectious chorus. The stark and beautiful 'Coffins' and atmospheric 'Vagabonds' complete the EP - six perfect, three-minute pop songs.
MisterWives are Mandy Lee (vocals), Etienne Bowler (drums) and Will Hehir (bass). Born and raised in Queens, Mandy Lee studied songwriting and opera at NYC's only public high school for music and performing arts, laying the foundation for her incredible vocal range. Lee met fellow Queens resident Hehir through a mutual friend and shortly after was introduced to Bowler, a Bronx native, while the two were working a street away from one another in Manhattan. The three immediately hit their stride musically and MisterWives was born.
When it came time to play live, Bowler brought in old friends Marc Campbell (guitar) and Jesse Blum (keys/trumpet/accordion). They played their first gig together in February 2013 and were offered a deal on the spot to Photo Finish/Island in the US, straight after the show.
Having recently played White Heat at Madame JoJos and Huw Stephens' night at The Social in London, along with a fantastic performance at The Great Escape in Brighton, MisterWives are not just making waves on the other side of the Atlantic but are set to ignite the UK with the release of the soaring and infectious 'Reflections' as a single this summer.
The full 'Reflections' EP' - produced by Etienne Bowler and mixed by Neal Avron, except for the Frequency-produced title track - is available now from all digital outlets and has already been picking up praise left, right and centre.
