Rapper Missy Elliot begged her father not to kill her mum when he drew a gun on his wife during a fight and threatened to murder her.
The Work It hitmaker was 14 when years of domestic abuse escalated into a terrifying row - and her dad decided he'd had enough of the arguments with his wife.
In a Behind The Music expose, which aired on TV in America on Wednesday (29Jun11), Elliot's mum Patricia recalls, "Missy saw that the fight was just beyond measures (sic). My husband said, 'This is it, I'm gonna kill you. It's over!'
"I was so tired of being beaten over and over I just said, 'Fine, just do it'."
The rapper picks up the story: "He pulled the gun out in front of me. I was screaming, 'Daddy, please don't kill my mother...'"
Elliot ran to her uncle's house nearby and pleaded with him to stop her father from doing something awful.
Patricia adds, "By the time my brother came in, we were wrestling with the gun and my brother got the gun away from him."
Missy says, "It was the most scariest time in my life."
The fight ended the relationship and Patty left her husband.
