Rapper Missy Elliott's publicist has shot down reports suggesting the star and super-producer pal Timbaland will be involved in a planned new album of unreleased Aaliyah material.
The tragic singer's cousin Jomo Hankerson told Billboard.com last week (begs06Aug12) that the pair would "definitely be involved" in the posthumous release - but now it seems that won't be the case.
Elliott's longtime manager Mona Scott-Young says, "We've seen the reports surfacing that they have been confirmed to participate but that is not the case. Both Missy and Timbaland are very sensitive to the loss still being felt by the family so we wanted to clear up any misinformation being circulated."
Last week, family members distanced themselves from the album project, which will include Drake's new Aaliyah duet Enough Said. They insisted the project was not one they have endorsed.
Elliott has released a statement on behalf of herself and Timbaland, in which she refused to acknowledge the planned album, which Hankerson insisted features music the rapper was working on with Aaliyah before her death in 2001.
She says, "Tim and I carry Aaliyah with us everyday, like so many of the people who love her. She will always live in our hearts. We have nothing but love and respect for her memory and for her loved ones left behind still grieving her loss. They are always in our prayers."
