Lief filed legal papers in September (15), accusing the actress of missing the 4 March (14) start date of his film Promoted, in which she was slated to play the lead role. He also claimed he received an email from Barton's mother which suggested the star was in Europe and would not be available until around two weeks after she was due to start work. Lief alleged that the production delay to the movie, which had to be recast, cost him more than $300,000 (£229,000).

Now, former The O.C. actress Barton has been ordered to pay Lief more than $200,000, as well as interest, according to legal papers obtained by TMZ.com.
