The Harry Potter star joins several British celebrities who are heading to India to see if they can set up a new life there, for upcoming BBC show The Real Marigold Hotel.

The series was inspired by 2011 movie The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, about a group of British pensioners who move to live at a hotel in India, and Margolyes has revealed she had a hair-raising escape from a plunge into the highly-polluted Ganges and was saved by her fellow travellers.

She tells U.K. talk show host Graham Norton, "I nearly fell in the Ganges. We were on a boat and I fell asleep and gradually started keeling over into the water. I am amazed I was pulled back. I suppose it means I made friends."

Other stars taking part in The Real Marigold Hotel include former Doctor Who Sylvester McCoy and singer Patti Boulaye.
