The star graduated from the New School of Cooking in Culver City, California last summer (Jun15) and now she's making plans for a project with top food blogger and writer Gaby Dalkin.

"We’re going to be travelling around the country (America) and learning about all of those fascinating things to do with our food and the process where it goes from farm to table," Minka told

The 35-year-old spent over six months perfecting her kitchen skills at culinary school, where she learned how to make pasta and master some of the world's most difficult dishes.

"With what I do (for a living), we get a lot of downtime and I think it’s important, at least for me, to always be doing things to keep my brain engaged," she added. "I love to cook, so I just thought I would take it to the next level.

"I was always so reliant on recipes, and I just wanted to be more confident in the kitchen. I love cooking for friends. My favourite thing to do is to have cooking parties at my house. Plus, it’s just a really practical hobby."

Minka has no immediate plans to open a restaurant or become one of the many stars writing cookbooks, but she insists culinary school has really made her think about the food she eats every day.

"It really opened my mind to the world of food and really taught me a lot about where our food comes from and how important it is to be mindful of what it is that you put in your body," she explained.
