Country music star Mindy Mccready has been found dead in an apparent suicide.

The troubled singer's body was found at her home in Heber Springs, Arkansas, on Sunday (17Feb13) and reports suggest the 37 year old died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A representative for MCCready tells E! News, "I have no statement or information to provide until I get verification from the authorities in Arkansas and until all family including the children have been notified.

"The family and I have been trying to reach the authorities. I have not spoken to any officials that were on the scene. I am asking the media for sensitivity in this regard. At this time, any family member coming forward to confirm this is completely inappropriate."

Meanwhile, a statement from Arkansas police reads, "At 3:31 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 17, deputies from the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a report of gun shots fired. Officers arrived on the scene at 3:58 p.m. and discovered the body of 37-year-old Melinda Gayle MCCready on the front porch of the residence...

"Ms. MCCready was pronounced dead at the scene from what appears to be a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. At this time family members have been notified of the incident. Ms. MCCready will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the matter will be fully investigated."

The singer's death comes just one month after her boyfriend, music producer David Wilson, was found dead after a suspected suicide in January (13).

Earlier this month (Feb13), a judge committed the singer to a medical facility after concerned family members questioned her ability to care for her two sons, Zander, six, and 10-month-old Zayne.

Doctors released MCCready a day later and she returned home to undergo 21 days of treatment as an outpatient.

MCCready's personal problems have worsened in recent years - she allegedly tried to take her own life in 2008 and was hospitalised after she slashed her wrists and took several pills.
