Country singer Mindy McCready has joined the list of jailed U.S. music stars after violating her probation on a 2004 prescription drug fraud charge.
The Ten Thousand Angels hitmaker has been sentenced to serve a year behind bars in Florida.
MCCready, who only had a few more months left on probation when she was arrested in July (07) - following a domestic dispute between the singer and her mother, appeared in court on Friday (14Sep07), wearing an orange prison jumpsuit.
The judge insisted she be taken straight to jail after her sentencing, according to TMZ.com.
In addition to the jail time, MCCready was handed two more years of probation and 200 hours of community service.
The singer has faced a string of legal troubles in the past three years, following the drug fraud charge.
In May, 2005, she was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license, and two months later she was charged with identity theft, unlawful imprisonment and hindering prosecution in Arizona after police claimed she and a male associate stole a truck and forced a woman to accompany them against her will.
That same year (05), the singer was also hospitalised twice after two suicide attempts.
