The former The Office co-stars, who dated on and off for years while working on the hit U.S. comedy series, have remained friends and now they're testing their relationship with a book deal.

Bloggers felt sure the tome would be a revealing insight into the ups and downs of their romance, but Kaling took to social media on Tuesday (26May15) to set the record straight.

She writes, "Many of you asked about a book that my friend BJ and I are working on. I heard somewhere it was a tell-all, which I actually found exciting - because that sounds sexy and I grew up looking like a little fat boy.

"But it's not a tell-all. What I CAN tell you (is) it will be super cool and funny and even better than that. For now, we are researching. I swear I'm not trying to be mysterious! We are just starting work on it."

The actors are both accomplished authors - Kaling unveiled her memoir, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (and Other Concerns), in 2011 and she is set to launch a follow up, Why Not Me?, later this year (15), while Inglourious Basterds star Novak penned short story collection, One More Thing: Stories and Other Stories, and children's title, The Book With No Pictures, which were both released last year (14).
