Million Dollar Baby and The Aviator have shared the top prizes at the 77th Academy Awards in Hollywood.

Martin Scorsese's Howard Hughes biopic picked up the most statuettes, but Clint Eastwood's powerful boxing drama took the Best Picture prize, the Best Director OSCAR for Eastwood, and the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor awards for its stars Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman.

Jamie Foxx's portrayal of late soul star Ray Charles in RAY earned him a popular Best Actor accolade.

Cate Blanchett was named Best Supporting Actress for her role as KATHARINE HEPBURN in The Aviator.

Foxx dedicated his trophy to the "beautiful legacy" of Ray Charles, who died last year (04), and thanked Ray director Taylor Hackford. He told the Hackford, "You took a chance, man. That love for Ray Charles was deep down in the earth somewhere and you opened it up."

Swank was overwhelmed to scoop her second Best Actress Oscar - five years after she won for BOYS DON'T CRY.

After collecting her prize she said, "I don't know what I did in this life to deserve this. I'm just a girl from a trailer park who had a dream."
