Miley Cyrus' short hair sent Twitter into overdrive over the weekend. In a series of cryptic tweets on Sunday (August 12, 2012), the singer documented her new cut, which has seen Miley trade in her sleek locks for something a little sharper, edgier, and much, much, shorter.
After posting a photo of stylist Chris MCMillan about to cut her hair, Miley Cyrus wrote, "it's happening", followed by, "if you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all. my hair is attached to my head no one else's and it's going bye bye". Five hours later, the new hairstyle was complete, and the singer stunned her Twitter followers by posting pictures of the new cut, adding, "Never felt more me in my whole life .Love my hair. feel so happy, pretty, and free". The 19-year-old - who recently became engaged to marry Liam Hemsworth - has always threatened to chop her hair off, previously telling ABC News, "One day I'm going to cut my hair like [Twiggy], I know I am.I will one day". She acknowledged her drastic image change later on Sunday evening, joking, "Someone just told me I'm prettier than Miley Cyrus".
Though Miley's fans will no doubt consider her a trendsetter, the platinum blonde pixie cut has been done before, plenty of times. Most recently, Carey Mulligan opted for a similar style, and Agyness Deyn has been rocking the cut for years. Michelle Williams, Kelly Osbourne and Charlize Theron are others who have tried out the pixie cut too.
