Mickey Rourke has dropped plans to step into the ring to tackle wrestler CHRIS JERICHO - days after the fighter took a swipe at him. The Wrestler star declared he was ready to take on WWE favourite Jericho at the upcoming WrestleMania event in Texas while speaking to reporters on the red carpet at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday (25Jan09).
His threats sparked a war of words on CNN show Larry King Live on Tuesday (27Jan09) - when the fighter told Rourke, "I don't have respect for you... Be careful what you wish for, Mr. Rourke."
But now the star has bowed out of the event - to focus his concentration on furthering his acting career.
A spokesperson for Rourke says, "Mickey was very honoured to be asked as he has the greatest respect for WWE however he will not be participating in Wrestlemania. He is focusing entirely on his acting career."
