The executive passed away on Monday (24Aug15) at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Westwood, California after suffering complications from a recent stroke.

Lipstone began his career in local news and was named Head of Production at Ivan Tors Studios before co-founding Alan Landsburg Productions with Landsburg in 1970.

During his tenure at the company, Lipstone developed many socially-conscious programmes including 1989's The Ryan White Story about a real-life teenager infected by HIV following a blood treatment, and Adam, the true story about John Walsh's missing and subsequently murdered son Adam Walsh.

He also produced TV reality series In Search Of with Leonard Nimoy.
