L'Wren Scott's friends say she was ''acting strangely'' in the weeks prior to her death.

The former model and fashion designer is believed to have hung herself in her New York apartment where she was found by her assistant yesterday (17.03.14).

Those close to L'Wren admitted they were becoming increasingly worried about her behaviour claiming she was ''acting strangely'' and ''was ducking phone calls.''

A source told the New York Post newspaper: ''They've known that something was going on, and it's been going on for at least a week.''

L'Wren , 41 - had been in a long term relationship with 'Rollling Stones' frontman Mick Jagger since 2001 - and is believed to have suffered from depression and been involved in a self-harm ''incident'' recently.

A source is quoted by the MailOnline website as saying: ''L'Wren was really quite troubled and there were some issues over Mick and her standing in the family. It seems she suffered from depression.''

The insider alleges L'Wren was upset with the singer's refusal to marry her after 13 years together.

She was also hurt when Mick's former spouse, Jerry Hall, didn't invite her to the baby shower she threw for Mick's eldest daughter Jade - from his marriage to Bianca Jagger - and Assisi, her 21-year-old daughter.

Mick, 70, who is currently in Australia touring, was often joined by L'Wren on the road although she is believed to have been too ill to join him Down Under and had remained at home in New York.

The source said: ''She just wasn't well enough to go on tour with them.''

Following the news of L'Wren's death, The Rolling Stones have cancelled the first performance on their Australian tour which was set to take place in Perth tomorrow (19.03.14).
