Actress Michelle Williams literally walked in Marilyn Monroe's footsteps while filming new movie My Week With Marilyn - she was given the Hollywood icon's old studio dressing room.
The actress transforms herself into the blonde bombshell for director Simon Curtis' new project, which chronicles the time Monroe spent in London in 1956 shooting The Prince & The Showgirl with Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh.
Curtis and Williams researched the role together, trawling through hours of TV and film footage and leafing through various books about Monroe's life - but the Brokeback Mountain actress was truly able to channel the Some Like It Hot beauty by sitting in the very same make-up chair as the late star.
The filmmaker tells People magazine, "She and I watched and read everything... For someone whom the world lost in 1962, it's incredible how much of her is still around.
"They gave Michelle the dressing room that Marilyn Monroe had used. We were in Marilyn's footsteps."
And Curtis insists fans will be blown away by Williams' performance.
He declares, "Michelle Williams is the greatest actress of her generation."
