A new UK TV movie based on the diaries of the late CARRY ON comedian KENNETH WILLIAMS has re-opened the debate on whether his death was a suicide or an accidental overdose.

BBC show FANTABULOSA examines the inner-most thoughts of the troubled star, one of Britain's best loved comedians, who was found dead in his flat in 1988 at the age of 62.

Actor Michael Sheen, who plays Williams says, "I believe Kenneth killed himself, but I don't know for sure."

Writer RUSSELL DAVIES edited William's published diaries.

He says, "I think you would be hard pushed to find any friends who thought it was suicide, but having looked at the diaries, it is hard to come to any other conclusion."

Fantabulosa airs on BBC4 in early 2006.
