Former Olympian Michael Phelps has been arrested for driving under the influence in Maryland.

The champion swimmer was pulled over in Baltimore for speeding early on Tuesday (30Sep14) and failed a field sobriety test, after officers suspected he was intoxicated, according to

Phelps agreed top a Breathalyzer test and his blood alcohol content was reportedly clocked at twice the legal limit.

He was charged with Dui, excessive speeding and crossing double lane lines within the Fort MCHenry Tunnel.

This is the second Dui arrest for Phelps - in 2004, he was sentenced to 18 months probation after he pleaded guilty to driving while impaired in Maryland.
