Oscar-winning filmmaker Michael Moore has been replaced as a boardmember on the Michigan Film Office Advisory Council.

The controversial Fahrenheit 9/11 director, a Michigan native, was appointed to the 14-member committee in 2010 by then-governor, Democrat Jennifer Granholm, but he will step down from the role once his four-year term expires on 30 September (14).

Republican Governor Rick Snyder has chosen to replace him with businessman Ted Serbinski, a former network executive at A&E Television.

Members on the advisory body are tasked with helping to promote media production in the state.
